Category: the Rant Board
Well, I just hate waiting on something sometimes. For example, I hate waiting for my bus to arrive to take me home, I hate waiting in lines at a cafateria or amusement park. I hate waiting because it's so dang boring! Just sitting or standing there, doing absolutely nothing, with nothing to do, it's so boring and dull. I especially hate waiting in a line or standing and waiting. For one, it's so boring standing still, so still. Also, after I stand for so long, I feel pain in my legs and want to sit down. Sitting and waiting isn't quite so bad, but still boring. My teacher says not to be itle, but when you're waiting on something, there's nothing to do but be itle.
Hi. I'm another person who does not like having nothing to do while waiting. Maybe you could take something to do with you while you wait. This would not work in some places like an amusement park, but you can have something to do while you're waiting for your bus or something, or sometimes even standing in line. For example, if I know I'm going somewhere where I might not have anything to do, I usually take my notetaker, a slate and stylus, or sometimes something interesting to read, or my Walkman with some ear buds, that way the time will pass more quickly and I won't be bored just standing or sitting. So maybe you could try that, to take something to do with you while you wait.
Good idea.
not trying to offend or anything here, but dl87, looks like there are many things that you hate and complain about. you complain about waiting, about phone calls, about bathing, we all do these things, not only you. they are normal things in life. i find lines annoying too, and waiting for the bus especially when it's so damn cold or hot outside and the bus is 40 minutes later which happens often here, but it's every day life, and so are phone calls and bathing. try and find a way to make all these things more pleasing for you, take something to do while waiting for example, and don't find something to complain about in everything you have to do. just an advice. you'll feel better
Katie, I agree with poster number 2. When I got my first walkman about 20 years ago, we became close friends instantly for just that reason. Ear buds have been a Godsend, because its much easier to hear what's going on around you. Keep the volume at a sensible level so you don't miss the sound of the bus or the phone ringing, or anything else of importance. Make sure you keep the battery charged, otherwise you're going back to a long, boring wait.
On a related note, when I was in college, I used to think of waiting as an independent study course in wall support, or bookstore-line standing. Great ways to just observe people, which can contribute to conversation later.
Lou
People watching is always fun in line
That kind of waiting is nothing
The worse kind is waiting to see if you are accepted to a school or anything long term like that.
I agree with poster number 2, take a walkman so you can listen to music or something. That's what I do when going to college. The only thing is I can hear everything else and the music. Some times I take it to try and the young ones on the bus.
Good lord, the waiting to see if you've been accepted to a school is a pain in the arse. God, Katie. Stop moaning about the fact that you hate everything and just get on with it. Ugh!
DL87, do you hate waiting because you're waiting on your own? Perhaps if you were waiting with somebody else, you could talk to them, so it would be more pleasant. The people around you such as relatives, friends, etc must have to wait for things like buses sometimes. What do they do? If the result of what they do while waiting means they don't feel the same way about it as you do, perhaps you could do the same things that they do.
agree with post 8, that said in other words what i said in post 4. lol
Think of all the long-term waiting and waiting for buses and lines will seem like nothing.
I'm not saying this has happened to me, but think of people waiting for organ transplants. Thousands die waiting for organs every year. be glad you're not one of them. Next time you're waiting for a bus, think about them, be thankful that you are as fortunate as you are in that you don't need a new heart or set of lungs, and stop whining because your wait will be much shorter than theirs.
I agree with poster 4.
dl87, you seem like a lonely person and you just need to take a chill pill as they say.
Yes It would be nice if you wrote about something you like this takes up board space. Not trying to be rude but sometimes you have to wait is it fun but its a part of life.
If ever I have to wait in lines, wait for taxis or buses or trains to get me home or wherever, I always have that faithful new standby, the MP3 player with earbuds in my pocket or handbag. They're only about the size of two 50 pence pieces if you put them together these days, so that would be an excellent little everyday item to take along with you while you wait for the bus or whatever, then when you get bored, get jammin. Lollol.
Jen.
SOrry, but how old are you? You sound like you're five. Very whiny.
She's twenty.
I think she's just lonely...she's not that bad really.
I agree with Joanne about people waiting for organs etc. This is much worst. And i agree with the poster who said that she sounds like a child. I was going to say it but i didn't want to sound horrible. She reminds me my 8 year old sister and 10 year old brother. Sometimes they don't know what the word wait means. If they want something they want it now. But i hope that they won't be like that when they are 20 lol.
Yeah, lollol. She reminds me of my 7-month-old cousin when he's bor'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'r'red, lollol, and I'm sure he'd say bor'r'r'r'r'r'r'red if he could talk now, but he really windges and screams the place down if he doesn't want to wait till someone's free to play with him, find him a plant he can pull around and wreck or simply take him for a walk or a ride in the buggy or the car, my point being, waiting's just a fact of life, even for 7-month-old baby Robbie, but do you see people like me in their early to mid 20's whining and moaning about waiting and/or everything else under the blimming sun, DL87? You want to just grow up and accept life for what it is. We've all had to do that at some time or other, I'm sure.
Jen.
I can understand if she is lonely, but you just need to accsept it. I have to weight on the bus to every day and I get bored. Some times after a long wait I just move around. I
I agree that we all must wait for things.
That's just a fact of life.
Well, I guess I can manage sitting and waiting, but if I stand for 5 minutes or longer, I feel pain in my legs that only gets worse. You guys are right about me wining. Well, I do hate life, for the most part. But this board is up here, so we can post to it if we wish. I can think of more bad things in life than good, but there's a few good things. Good things are computers, making friends, (I like talking on the phone, my cell phone, swimming, fishing, going to my grandparent's house, seafood, my favorite, I love eating, sweets, and that's all I can think of that I like.
That's a lot of things. Focus on those and your outlook on things might change a bit.
Agree with the last post. Also, you might try finding groups of people with similar interests like swim clubs or cooking or computer clubs.
Or you might get a blog, get paid for placing adverts on it, and get rich by ranting about all the things which annoy you.
Good idea. I have a whole list of things I hate. To sum it all up, I just hate life and living.
If you hated life then you wouldn't get the chance to enjoy everything you do love such as swimming and computers.
Okay, you want the truth?
Many times I am unhappy with life but somehow I squeak through.
The trick is to get out in the world and actually talk with people and you will see you're not alone.
You hate waiting because it leaves you with thoughts of beeing alone.
Cheer up...at least try.
I have a5 hour time period between classes. I go to the school library during that time. I either go on the computer and do homework if any,or I can go on the zone. Cingular's free unlimited mobil to mobil calling has been a godsend because I have 2 friends with cingular that I can call when I'd like. If nobody's available to call, and I have no homework,I just sit on the couch and take a long nap. In a library for 5 hours, there's more to do than you'd think.
Call me a winer, and all those other things you called Kate, but, I cast my lot with her, at least partly. I mean we as blind persons' spend so much time waiting. Waiting to catch the bus, waiting for the bus to get from point A, to point B, waiting for lights to change, waiting for that badly needed tecnology, waiting for those textbooks, and the list goes on and on. I once tried to calculate all the time I spent just waiting in one day. That right there was a lesson in where I get my patience from. Yes, waiting is a fact of life and yes some do it more than others. The point is that Kate just doesn't like to wait. I too am a creature of instant gratification. Hasen't our society created us to be that way? I mean Email, internet access to anywhere in the world, high speed access, microwaves, cars, fax machines, calculators, the list can go on forever. We have created planes that go mock something. Control it if you can.
Nem
I sort of see what you're saying Nem, but this is about her loneliness.
loneliness... sometimes waiting for others causes a painful scheduling and its just something you'll have to manage. Standing is disagreable indeed, althouhg i distract myself with songs and whatever and make my brain do something... imagine my own place, my own town, my own republic! and so on... just do that and others think you are a moron; however, time flies when that happens. But then waiting will also cause terrible consequences. But I don't really dislike waiting. You can increase your productivity as many say here, but then again, i really hate waiting on unreliability (all the lawyers in this freaking country, the "immigration" or better known as "instant 3 second deportation" service taking centuries to answer while some people yell at you for not having a citizen passport or whatever the hell it is anymore, fafsa, the teacher that takes a 4 hour coffee break, ETC)
I certainly agree!
My favorite kind of waiting is on those nice long car, plane, and bus rides. Ah. So relaxing. If I go somewhere to eat by myself, I can take my mp3 player, and some of my great big headphones that I got a few months ago. I can listen to music while waiting for my food to get here.
you say you like fishing dl87, and isn't that the biggest generator of waiting around?
I don't ike waiting iether, I can get reay impationt. But some times we have to do things we don't like.
Hey, I haven't been fishing in years...but yes, it involves plenty of waiting around.
